Printed background?
The animals are stitched, is the background printed or stitched?

Do you use 2 or 3 strands of floss when using 10 count Aida?

I have never seen a Riolis counted cross stitch, but there is always that possibility. Kristi from ECS may ne able to research this further, if she reads Russian...Riolis is a Russian company. They often use wool threads in addition to cotton.

Hello,

The fabric does have a preprinted background in this kit. And it comes with wool/acrylic floss so I think you only use 2 strands when stitching on the fabric but the instructions inside will tell you that detail. I don't have a kit in front of me to open to get that information at this time :( The only information I have is what comes with the kit and that is: 10 count Aida Zweigart fabric with pre-printed background, Safil wool/acrylic threads (19 colors), needle, instructions and color chart. Hope this helps?!

Su Pitt and Kristi,

Thank you for your quick response, sorry for my slow reply! I am currently stitching a Riolis pattern that luckily came with DMC thread. Your information helped a lot. Thank you so much.

I've never worked with wool yarn before and have heard it can be frustrating. I have two other Riolis kits that came with wool yarn that I will have the experience working with at a later time, probably next winter. This year is booked with projects that I have to get done.

Is it accurate that with working with wool thread you should use a shorter length like you do with metallic or speciality thread? Thank you again. Barb

Red...yes, use shorter thread lengths! It sure saves us from the agony of frustrations, since the wool thrrads tend to fray easily, just like metallics or specialities do! I am a bit ambiguous about my geelimgs regarding Riolis kits. Since many stitchers on this chat know that I have strong emotions about other companies, check back with me in anout 40 years...it takes we German hausfraus a while to arrive at a strong opinion. Once I have one, will.be happy to share...

Red,

Thank you for letting us know that it came with DMC Floss. We will have to contact our distributor to see why their description states Wool thread for the contents of the kit?! I will double check on the Riolis website as well. Thank you and happy stitching!

Kristi,
I think you misread my last comment which stated, " I am currently stitching a Riolis pattern that luckily came with DMC thread." The Lamb & Rabbit pattern I'm sure comes with wool thread as indicated in the description. My current project is with DMC thread.

Hope this clears things up, I would hate to have you go through all the work of contacting your distributor. I apologize if my post confused you or anyone else.
