Uhmmm.... in the process of adding the picture to your chat message, do you see a symbol of an arrow that is in a Circular shape? Tap on it and see if your picture turns.
I once put a picture on a chat and had it In the correct position visually, but when I put it on the chat, the picture was upside down. I started over and put the picture in Upside-down and it came out on my chat message the correct way up.
