Linen to Aida transfer
I bought a pattern and didn't realize it was a 32 count to be done on linen. I thought it was for Aida and want to do it as a 14 count. How do I calculate to know what size Aida to use?

Hello ladyj117,

You can use this handy fabric calculator from the yarntree website:

https://www.yarntree.com/java/xstitchcal.htm

or you can do the math yourself. Just take the stitch count of the design and divide the width and height numbers by 14. That will give you your dimensions. Then, you can add how many inches you want for the border and just add that number to each of those dimensions and you will get the size fabric piece you need :) Hope this helps!

I have used this formula before and it worked--to my surprise!!!! May I also suggest you use the calculator found on this site to "check" the math just for safety. Enjoy your stitching!!!!!! Thanks ECS for this feature--learn something from it each and every time I check the Chat.

There is also a handy dandy fabric calculator app for your phone by Stitching the Night Away. Best part is that it is a free app!
