Anybody here from Orlando?
Our granddaughter goes to USF on a basketball scholarship. She has evacuated from Tampa to Orlando where a team mate has her parental home. My TV has gone on the blink so I'm wondering if some kind soul could let me know how things are Orlando way. Fingers crossed for all of you.

Mary, good morning, I'm Nita, from Michigan. We winter in Florida, so I have some of their local weather station on my phone. The latest on Irma, still cat 4, but going up on the west side of Florida, Orlando is closer to the east side. One report, even has it glancing off the main land area & heading out into the gulf. Right now, I still don't think they know for sure, till it does make landfall. I'm sure your granddaughter will have rain, and some wind, but it won't be the worst part.
I hope I have eased your mind a little.

Rita,. I have the news on now. The rain has started on Tampa and Orlando. Still expected to make landfall in Tampa sometime tonight. I have a son who lives in Tampa. He went north a bit. If you still have internet, go to the Weather Channel..

Mary, I am watching the weather channel (live in Michigan) right now. Orlando should have a lot of rain, and some wind with high gusts, but they shouldn't have the worries of storm surges. They will probably lose power, power has been going out as Irma moves north. Last year, my nephew and his wife went to Florida for a vacation and spent part of it in Disney World when a hurricane popped up along the east coast. They said it was rainy - lots of rain, but they were fine.

I want to thank you all for your info. I feel more in the loop now than I did beforehand. I found the weather channel and have it on my homepage now.
I'm in Denmark in Scandinavia so a long way from you.

Thanks surt I'd really appreciate that. Normally I can watch CNN but my remote control is not talking with my TV smart boxand it's going to take 4 days for the new one to arrive...unbelievable in this day and age! 😡

I'm in Melbourne (60 miles east of Orlando on the east coast). We're boarded up and hunkering down! So far lots of rain and wind. If you look at a satellite image, you can't even see the state! Reports of a tornado just south of us in Palm Bay destroyed some mobile homes (hopefully the occupants evacuated!). Right now the Keys are taking a beating. Orlando should be ok as they are in the middle of the state (no storm surges or direct hit of the storm's eye). Praying for everyone's safety!

Keep safe all of you. I can only imagine the sound the wind must make. I'm on my way to be now....a bit early but I seem to be coming down with something.

Hope you are feeling ok. How did your granddaughter do through the hurricane? Have you heard from her? Hope all was well with her and the people she stayed with.
