Hi jb - I have done several Sue Hillis designs on 14 ct aida and they turn out beautifully. I just ordered this pattern last night and intend to do it on aida. My eyes just won't work anymore with lugana or the other fabrics like that. I don't see any problem with using the 14 ct aida - just be sure to remember to add 3" extra to EACH side of the fabric when you order it. Makes life a lot easier. Happy New Year!!
