This pattern just grabs me
I have never worked on anything but aida. I like the routine of aida 14 or 16 count. But this really grabs me. I have also never done a HAED. My question is this, if I did
Stitch Count 350w x 529h
Fabric25ct. Evenweave over 1
How much fabric do I need? What color would you choose? Is this a multi-year undertaking : / ?

Project on 25 ct. would be 14" x 22" , so with 3" on each side for ease of framing, you would cut fabric 20" x 28" . There's 90 colors and 185,000+ stitches...yes, I would say this was a project that could take a year...very probably more than a year. It is a gorgeous project and, if I were choosing the fabric, I would go for antique white or platinum, but I imagine it's the stitcher's choice. 😊

This looks like a beautiful tapestry. Like you, I'm an aida stitcher. I can't see the individual threads on evenweave well enough to count them, so I stick to what's easy, comfortable, and haven't looked back. Lots of colors in this as this is the case with most of the HAED designs. I usually stitch my cover all designs on antique white or natural. This may call for gridding to keep your place unless you are one who is comfortable enough working without it. Depending on how much time you set aside to stitch, 1 year to a few years to stitch this intricate design.

I grid almost everything these days. I have several fun projects on my list to do (most of which are already in my stash) for my family and friends. I am now a grandma of 3 under 3. So, I am doing baby things right now and loving it. I am thinking I can wait to add this to my stash when it goes on sale. It would be a bear to grid but I can't imagine doing it anyother way (gridding alone will take weeks).
Vcess, thanks for the details. I have not used 25 count before. I do have a light/magnifying piece I wear around my neck. Guess I need to get stock in batteries. : )

This pattern grabs me, too, xstitcher522! It's been on my wish list for a while now. I'd use an antique white or beige fabric and I'd invest in a floor stand, if you don't already have one. And a lighted magnifier, floor or table top, your choice. My experience tells me this would be a year long project. I have done HAED patterns before, and none of them are quick stitches. Use one strand of floss over one thread on 25ct fabric. I've never gridded any of my projects, but others swear by it. I think you'll do fine, just take your time.
