Learning curve!
Newest WIP- bit the bullet and started my first project on " over 2" fabric ( 28 ct raw opalescent linen). LOVE the sparkley fabric but it is kind of like tiny lights in your vision! Thought this would work up fairly quickly but keep pulling out stitches because I've chosen the wrong hole🙄. Am excited to attempt a new challenge but am feeling "one step forward, two steps back" at the moment! I am sure some of you are shaking your heads thinking been there, done that! 😄

I have never done 'over 2' but imagine I would be doing the same...habits can be hard to break and over two would require you to consciously make the decision as to which hole you use (until it became second nature).

Hang in there, murillone, as Marz said, it will become second nature eventually. I prefer to work "over two" and 28ct is my favorite fabric. It's only been recently, with my eye problems, that I had to go back to Aida projects. Now that my eyes are healing after surgery, I hope to be back to stitching 28ct very soon! Your project looks great, by the way!!

Oh, murillome,
It looks so very dainty, as if a little elf girl or a fairy stitched it! Your stitches look so perfect on this design. My eyes have reduced me to my current comfort on 16 ct. Aida. I recall when I stitched on 36 or even 40 count over 2 and never thought twice about the possibility of my eyes slowly failing. Do you folks think that we encourage eye problems by always choosing "close work" (my grandmas, one British, one German, both called it that)?
Here's to those who do it,
Not to those who say "foo" it.
Close work up to 40 count
Gives me giant pain to mount.
My eyes are failing due to stitching,
But my heart tells me to keep on bitching.

No, Su, I don't think close work results in the failure of our eyes. I think it's just the natural progression due to aging. I actually asked my surgeon if my stitching or using magnification was the cause of my cataracts. She said no. She said 93% of people over the age of 60, men and women, no matter what they do for a living or as a hobby, will develop cataracts. It has everything to do with age.

Exactly how my first try on "over 2" went. I'm with Su, dainty is perfect word here. Keep us posted as you go along, please. What pattern is this? Liz

I went over the river to Texas and stopped at Hobby Lobby very quickly. I saw the opalescent linen and it is gorgeous. I am going to have to see an eye doc for my left eye. I can only see light and dark shadows but luckily, my right eye is almost perfect. Then maybe I can stitch some of the gorgeous new fabrics! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Pam
