number of stitches
Random thought: I sure wish the kits would state the number of stitches. Any thoughts from you all?

I've seen some that do, then think "It would be nice to know the stitch size", lol. How about they do both...Would be nice, as my current project is listed as 205x160, but lots of that is unstitched.

I don't see a need for the number of stitches. All I need to know is the size of the design.

I have noticed that a few (not many) have been listing the number of stitches for each floss. Is that you are referring to? This is helpful when you buy a pattern by itself. You can figure if you have enough floss in your stash before starting a new project. Also helpful if you buy more than one pattern at a time. You may notice that a particular floss is used in both patterns but a very low number of stitches in each.

Yes, Nancye, would be great for knowing if you need a full skein or just 3 inches, lol.

I'm not sure who posted (maybe VCESS, Bermuda) some time ago that stitch count was important. I know now that when I look at stitch count, it gives me a better idea of how involved the piece is. Size of the piece can be altered depending on the fabric count. The piece I'm enjoying now has a stitch count of 350X466. The stitch count and the picture (lots of confetti) showed how involved it is. So if a kit has stitch count listed, it would be informative. Also, by using the fabric calculator I could use my choice of fabric size in a fabric count I wanted. Hope that makes sense:)

I'm a little confused. By "number of stitches" aren't you referring to the total number of individual stitches? Most kits or patterns do not list that. But "stitch count" is the number of stitches done vertically and the number of stitches done horizontally to give you the size of the design. Most, if not all patterns or kits do list that. I do think that the stitch count is necessary, but I don't see the need for the total number of stitches I'm going to make. I know it's going to be a lot!!! 😊
