Crusin60, I made several of these State patterns many years ago. I really enjoyed them; they're colorful and easy to do. I made one for each state I've lived in (Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania, Virginia). Then a neighbor asked me to do about eight or ten for her, for the states they had lived in. I think she paid me $20 for each one. Each map has the major cities marked and named in a large font, and I used a smaller font to mark the names of the suburban cities that we lived in.

In answer to your question, the stitches are primarily regular cross-stitches but there are a few half-crosses in the small designs such as the fish, sailboat and milk can and there is also backstitching. There aren't any French knots or other specialty stitches.
