Aussie Stitcher (Sylvia)
Thank you everyone who replied to my query re making my graph bigger. I've just picked up my graph from our Office Supplies - wow so much easier. I wish I had kept my first graph " clean" - I would love to do "Chloe" again but I've learnt from my mistake. One more query - my first piece I didn't use a hoop and it looks pretty good, but will my piece be better if I do use a hoop? And should the cloth be pulled very tight through a hoop?

Sylvia I am sure you will get many different answers on this. I personally use a tension hoop. It sort of automatically tightens the fabric. However, some of us freehand, use Q snaps, tension bars etc. I suggest you try a hoop.
If you don’t like it you can always return to freehand is try something else.
Kris
PS: because that is my choice doesn’t make it the only one.😉 All that matters is that you enjoy it.

I have always used a hoop but the never held the fabric taut enough. Then I found qsnaps and like them much better. I am anxious to try the hoop that came with the Stitching Stuff as I have heard it works well.

A lot will depend upon what type fabric you are using and your personal preference. If you stitch with aida fabric, it is so stiff you can stitch without anything, but most of the other fabrics are so soft that some kind of hoop is needed. Then what kind of hoop is totally your own preference. Most will use a hoop, q-snap hoop, or frame. There are as many out there as there are stitcher's! If you decide to use a hoop be sure to take it off after each stitching session as it could leave rings on your fabric. It is totally up to what you find most comfortable, but just have fun! - Marsha

You probably need to experiment. I always use a hoop about 6 or 7 inches but I just always have. Some freehand and that works. I just use a hoop to keep my work taut. I have never used qsnaps and I have thought about ordering some but then I think that I could order another pattern. Just what you, yourself, and I find comfortable. Pam
