angel hair color
Could anyone tell me good colors to use to make the angel's hair red? Not a "carrot top" red but a more russet sort of auburn red. The baby's parents are of Irish descent and she has red hair, like her grandmother. ALL help is greatly appreciated! Many thanks!

Hi Becky,
One suggestion is to look at the VARIEGATED floss by Classic Colorworks (also called ‘crescent’ floss) and look at the floss called “Almost Auburn”. I believe Everything Cross Stitch offers this Colorworks color under ‘Products’.
Keep in mind that because this is a variegated floss, the floss color skein will varie, going from lighter to darker and back to lighter of this color. Hair color is NOT all one color in real life. Another suggestion, hold some DMC floss colors up to the parents’ hair to get a close approximation and choose a red DMC floss AND a brown DMC floss, then twist a single strand of each together to see what the color combo would look like together. Oh, and don’t forget to look at the Week’s variegated flosses also.

Thanks, Bermuda, for your suggestion. I went to ECS AND 123stitch.com and looked at this thread. It looks verymuch like the color of the Aislinn's hair. Unfortunately, the baby is in Pennsylvania and I'm in South Carolina so I'm having to judge her hair color from pictures. Thank you,again, for taking the time to reply to my query. Slainte!
