Question on chart design
On the "Welcome Little One"...are the dots in the lettering a full stitch? Or is it a French knot? If it is a full stitch, is the lettering suppose to be done with two strands? Just looking for clarification. I feel if it is suppose to be a full stitch, with only one strand, it will not look full.

Thanks!

Hi Karn,
I enlarged the picture and it looks like the “dots” in the words ‘Welcome Little One’ are a whole cross stitch.
What do the WRITTEN instructions say to use? Only one strand of floss?
Ok....if it does NOT look full with one strand of floss, then use two strands if YOU want to make it look fuller.
Stitchers on this ‘chat’ just had a conversation, last week I think, about changing the amount of strands of floss, different colors of floss etc. versus the what the pattern’s WRITTEN Instructions SUGGEST.
If YOU, as the stitcher of this pattern, want those ‘dots’ to be done with more than one strand of floss to make the coverage better, you go ahead and do it. There are ‘No Cross Stitch Police’ that will come knocking on your door....if there were any police arresting any stitchers that diverged or changed something on a pattern, we’d all be in jail..:)

Hello,

For Imagintaing designs, full stitches are 2 strands and backstitching is 1 strand unless noted otherwise in the instructions on the chart. This chart has the "dot" of the letters being full stitches and the actual backstitch for the phrase and baby name are done with 1 strand.

But you as the stitcher for the design can do whatever you would like, as Bermuda stated :) Hope this helps!

The 'dots' in the lettering are a full cross stitch done with 2 strands and backstitch done with 1 strand. Hope this helps! Mary

Thank you all! I started the letters with 1 strand, and decided it didn't stand out enough, just looked weak. Went with 2 strands for the letters. Will post when I'm finished. Thanks again!!
