Count Cross Stitch and Jigsaw puzzles
Tonight as I was working on a witches face, (hard to do Halloween this time of year), anyway I got to a part and it was like what is this supposed to be. As I kept working, a thought came to me, doing count cross stitch is like doing a jigsaw puzzle, both can be overwhelming to start, however when you see the progress, it is such a feeling of accomplishment. Jigsaw puzzles, one piece at a time, cross stitch one stitch at a time. With every piece or every stitch you near the end of a wonderful project.

You know, jaba, I never thought about that. But, it's true! I love doing jigsaw puzzles as much as I love cross-stitch. And they are both a source of relaxation and stress relief for me. I wonder if crossword puzzles could be thought of the same way, they are another of my favorite things to do. I do one daily.

jaba. When I started learning x stitch 6 months ago that was my thought exactly! I just love watching it come together which is why I am only doing large pieces.

jaba, you are so right. I love jigsaw puzzles. When my boys were little, I taught them that dark time (night) was quiet time. We would sit at their little table and color and/or put together jigsaw puzzles (quiet play). Sometimes we would watch a movie or just talk. After finishing the puzzles, we would glue them together and hang them on the wall. The coloring, we would make paper frames and hang them on the wall in their bedroom (and my bedroom, LOL).
When my children left, I didn't put together puzzles or color and I never thought I would like cross stitching when I started, but I got so addicted to it that I can't wait to get home and put my p.j.s on and start stitching. Time flies by when I'm engrossed in my project.
BTW, now grown, my boys still think of night time (dark time) as quiet time! They taught their girlfriend's children that too. Isn't that a hoot. Sorry, I kinda got off the subject a little (I digressed)

jclifford, I love your dark time is quiet time!! I did something similar with my girls when they were old enough to not need naps, but could use some quiet time. After lunch (if I was home that day) everyone had some quiet time, the girls in their own rooms and me in the recliner with my feet up. Did everyone a world of good. In fact, I still do this when I look after the grandkids! Mary

So what's your favorite types/brands of puzzles? Do your relatives sit on pieces so they can insert the last piece? My relatives are psychotic, right?
