Pick your own colors
I like to stitch patterns like this one... you can pick your favorite over-dyed thread to use.. Or your favorite color... Go for it!

Beautiful! Looks like one has to be careful that you count correctly or else you could have a plus or minus stitch hat throws everything off. kudos to you to stitch such beautiful ‘medallions’. I’m just guessing, but you do begin the pattern in the middle, do you not? I just can’t see how you could do the pattern otherwise, without increasing your odds of mis-counting.....

Yes, over the years, I have learned to always start in the middle... especially on something like the above... But this one Raven Riot by X's and O's, I started at one corner and stitched the entire border first, estimating the pattern's size and leaving a good 2 to 3 inch edging for finishing.. I bought this pattern here after a real huge Raven chose my front porch to die on... It reminds me of that beautiful bird, and "why" did it pick my porch? It must have been old and wise... lol I am currently working in the lower left hand corner, finishing the raven... then I will work all the accents and the small squares and do the raven's feet last; filling in the white.
