Hair
I went back to the hairdresser on Friday. We once again went for red and she assured me and told me exactly what she was going to put on hair (even had consulted with the owner). Remember that my husband said he didn't care if it was purple? Well, you should have seen her panicked face. My hair really was a beautiful shade of purple. I am not lying. It was beautiful. I was tempted to go home like that but she wouldn't let me. She put something on the purple to tone it down and then it started to burn my scalp. Rinsed it out and she got out blonding stuff and slathered it all over. So now, I don't know what color to tell you that I have. I just know it isn't good when teenage girls compliment you on your hair color! But I like it and I am having a good time. Pam

Who says that a person’s hair has to be red or brown or blonde!!? Go for it Pam! Different cultures in the world dye, cut, braid and even shave off their hair, so why not have different color hair. I have met in my outings some people having green hair; not Christmas green, but a light new leaf spring green and it looks attractive.

I should have left it purple, honestly. I liked it and it isn't like it was going to stay that way forever. My hairdresser said she was going across the river to Sally's and buy some copper coloring for me. She said that should work. The look on her face was priceless when I went purple! Pam

Unconventional hair color is one thing, lab experiment is another. Go someplace that knows how to give you the shade of purple you want. My mom had her own shop for 32 yrs. Trust me. This one flunked beauty college--twice, at least.

Pam, I've seen young and old people with all colors of hair and hair styles these days. Several people had purple, green, red, whatever! Many years ago a neighbor of my parents decided to have his hair permed and colored red, green, yellow for his 40th birthday. He looked like a clown.
Last January, I went to a salon for a hair cut. The 23 year old woman gave me a buzz cut like I was entering the Army. I'm 66 years old. I DID NOT ask for that. I wasn't happy at all. She didn't get a tip from me. I had to wait 2 1/2 months for my hair to grow out long enough to do something else with it. I went to a different salon and a new hair dresser. It took her 1 1/2 hours to roll my hair on small rollers in order to give me a perm. It turned out very nice. I'll keep her as my hair dresser.
Last night my DH and I went out for dinner. A young couple followed us in. As we waited for a table, I noticed the man's hair and beard. He shaved off the left side (1/2 )of his beard, left the right side on. He shaved off the right side of his head (1/2), he left the left side on. Weird! You'll never know what you're going to see next.

I hope people know who Annie Lennox is. She was the singing half of the Eurethmics(sp) and is now solo. Years ago when I lived in Shawnee, OK I went to a hairdresser that I had never been to. I told her I wanted it short but not as short as Annie Lennox. Well, I think she was on drugs and tripping out. All my life my one thing not to worry about was my hair. I never had problems with any way it turned out. This time, well, my hair was SHORTER than Annie Lennox and I actually went home and cried knowing that I was going to have to go to work on the morrow. One thing about hair, most of the time, it will grow out, colors wash out, and perms will unperm! For right now, I am enjoying the change. Always march to the beat of a different drummer-be true to yourself always. I truly wish that my hair was all I had to worry about, for sure. Pam

And then there's Dame Judy Dench...I've had my hair as short as hers for the last four years. I like to be able to comb my hair with a couple of fingers and a shake. 😊. My favorite drummers are Buddy Rich and Neil Peart... 😄

A couple of years ago, my hair fell out. I mean almost completely. I had to keep a broom in the bathroom to sweep up after getting out of the shower every morning. My hair used to be shoulder length and very thick. I used to have to wait an hour before blow drying. Now it is short. I went to a couple of different dermatologists. One wanted to do some extreme treatment, the other said it looked like a complete shed. I wear it so short now, I don't have to blow dry any more. I really miss my ears being covered, and my head gets cold in the winter. The girl that cuts my hair now, is a friend of my younger daughter. She said she has always wanted to get her hands on my hair. I have never colored my hair, but I threatened to shave my head over the years, because it was so thick and a pain to blow dry. So, be careful what you wish for. By the way Pam, like the little project that you posted.

Traumatic, to say the LEAST! My hair thinned considerably after my daughter was born...I tried to tell several doctors of my concerns. One doctor wanted to talk to me about how vain I was, the rest told me it was "natural aging". They had no clue that there were lots of other things contributing and that it was a symptom! Male doctors can be IDIOTS!!!
