Pattern
Sadly I never got to see the reply to my Chit Chat question back in April. I asked if this was a Stamped Pattern . I have a hard time without the stamp. and they never seem to look like what they should. I love doing Stamped Patterns and this would be perfect for a Christmas Present

I am unsure on counted stitch patterns, If possible can I get it in Stamped ?

Hi Louise,
I just checked on "White Willow Designs" website and it appears this is a pattern but it is NOT printed on the fabric. It is only the chart and you would have to purchase the floss,. Did you check the "Stamped Projects" here on Everything Cross Stitch?
Also, I would make a suggestion for you to type in "German Short Haired Pointer Stamped Cross Stitch Kits" on Google or Yahoo and see what you get on the Internet.
Another suggestion: although I do not know what your cross stitching experience is, your eyesight, your interest if any in the counted cross stitch technique, etc. Maybe you would think about starting to do "counted cross stitch" with a simple pattern to begin with AND with fabric that wouldn't be a strain on your eyes such as 14-count Aida. I have cataracts and I'm no "spring chicken" and I began cross stitching with stamped kits and ended up doing counted cross stitching.
I hope this helps!
Oh, and so you are aware, I am NOT an employee of Everything Cross Stitch but one of the stitchers here on ECS's "Chit Chat Messageboard". There are a lot of experienced stitchers, both men and women on this "Chat" who try to answer and assist with questions.

Hi Bermuda,

Thank you for the Google Suggestion,
Yes I have tried here on everything cross stitch.
I too have cataracts, Had left eye operated on and vision is near 20/20 problem is the right eye is still very bad and using both eyes as they are it is making it difficult. I fear I would be wasting money trying the counted again.

Perhaps I will try after the Right eye is done. seems like Stamped patterns are very hard to find nowadays.

Wishing you the Best

Hi again Louise :),
You're right. It is difficult to find stamped cross stitch patterns. A lot of stitchers, including myself, went from the stamped kits to the counted cross stitch. I had two major reasons that I switched from the "stamped" cross stitch kits to counted cross stitch; one was because I could NEVER get my x's on the stamped fabric to come out exactly the same size as the other "x's" I did. My second reason is that with the kits, I kept running out of thread. I did NOT have problems with my eyesight at all other than wearing glasses when I first began. Those 2 frustrating reasons made me reconsider trying "counted cross stitch" and I love it because when using an EVENWEAVE fabric such as AIDA, all my x's came out exactly the same size. Plus with 14 count aida (which is 14 squares to an inch of fabric), I had no problem seeing where to put the needle.
If you ever decide to try taking up counted cross-stitch again, I would suggest you start with something easy and small, with a 12 or 14 count evenweave fabric and just a few colors of floss. There are some simple but pretty counted cross stitch KITS that give you everything you need. Once you get the knack of it, you'll fall in love with it.
I understand about the eyesight. I have cataracts both eyes but optometrist says that they aren't "bad enough for surgery yet." So I use a lighted magnifier to do my cross stitching and it helps!

Hi Bermuda,
I will definitly give it a try in the near future, Thank you.
To be honest I am same as you I try to help others on subjects I know of.
I truly appreciate your quick reply . It absolutly gives me food for thought.
for now my search will continue for as I said it would be for Christmas and I would need to start it asap.

I will let you know in advance if you ever do have the surgery it is quick and painless but the eyedrops are a bit costly. once you have them for one eye you should have enough for the second. Seeing nearly 20/20 out of one eye is amazing.

Wishing you the best
Louise

Do they put a new lens in? I'm supposing they do...
Sitting here waiting to here from youngest son who got himself stuck with his car broken down out in the LA California area. Got a feeling this is going to be a Looonnng night....

yes they do, and you will be given a card to carry with you in your wallet to let anyone know in an emergency that you have one.
Whole procedure takes about 90 minutes and you can drive next day

Wow! That's great! I'm not a real good candidate for people messing around with my eyes. Last time that I had some minor surgery done on my eyelid, I requested a drug to decrease my anxiety. 40 minutes later, I could've cared less if they had split me from stem to stern and taken out my intestines!:)

Son texted me....finally got back to base...one of the Marines on base came out to get him.
It doesn't matter how old the children get, the old "maternal drive" kicks in.....

I was really anxious when I went in for my eye. I have to say I felt great after. Glad your son got to base. Please Thank him for his service for me and my family.

My Granddaughter served in the Army when we first deplyed to Iraq. she was part of Jessica Lynch platoon. Thank God she had an allergic reaction to the anthrax and they sent her home , but due to no communication in those days it was weeks before we knew it was not her and she was safe. I may be her grandmother but that instinct travels from generation to generation no matter what.

We can absolutly be proud of these young men and women of today.

God Bless
