Since I'm curious, how much is a skein of Belle Soie silk thread?

I agree. I read some posts on the chat a while back from stitchers who have stitched with ‘silk’ threads and they says the projects are really beautiful but that they had difficulty working with the thread. I don’t know since I haven’t worked with this type of thread. For $7.50 (approximately) a skein, I can buy almost 14 skeins of DMC floss or extra skeins of Weeks variegated threads for less.

Sometimes when I buy a pattern to work on it. I buy the floss from sowhere else. I go to Ebay.com and the floss cost for $4.00 and some change. For ver a soie.

Yikes! I buy enough of the regular floss, fabric, patterns - that would put too much of a cramp in my buying for silk thread. Not worth it for me.

Bermuda, where did you find the conversion chart? I looked a while back, but could not find one that had more than 12 colors... 😊

The conversion table I spoke of is the DMC floss colors to use instead of the ‘silk’ Belle Soie threads and is in the written instructions that came with the pattern. Do you want them?
I dimly remember possibly seeing a conversion table of more of these Belle Soie threads on the internet some time ago; I will do another search and if I find a larger conversion table, will let you know. Some of the charts I am attracted to seem to contain these silk threads...

Good Morning everyone!! My DH would have my head examined if I paid that much for a skein of thread....he already thinks my horse hobby is expensive....if he only knew. I'm not sure about the conversion chart for the silk threads, but there is a website that I use for other threads like Anchor, DMC floss. They even have conversion charts for the kits like Bucilla and Dimensions. Its called cyberstitchers.com. I accidently found it one day when I was trying to find a floss color that I ran out of for a Dimensions pattern I was working on. Happy stitching everyone!!
