celebrating...
After 6 phone calls, and 3/4 hour on hold.. the government has decided that I am not dead!!!!
My husband passed in April. The girl at the funeral home got our social security numbers mixed up. It luckily got repaired quickly, but not before one branch on the government decided that I was dead. Yesterday I received a letter for the estate of the late DD stating the estate owed them $108.25. That's why the 6 phone calls and wasted time on hold.
Everything (for now) is straightened out and I can go back to stitching.

#1 I am sorry for your loss. @2 Isn't it scary that a number is so important? When I got my ss# my dad told me that I needed to memorize it because I would be dealing with it for the rest of my life. I am glad you got it straightened out and can get back to stitching. I hope TaDaa (?) is enjoying the flowers. Peace. Pam

Groan!! Don't you just love having to deal with government officials? I don't know where you live, but it's no better in Canada! Mary

When dealing with government no matter where, it is like a black hole. When you FINALLY get to a person, explain the situation, they immediately become deaf then transfer you to another black hole! But you can't hang up because then you start right where you were at the beginning! FRUSTRATING. Pam

I am in Canada, and am usually proud to say that, except where government is involved.

May I ask you what made you name your cat TaDaa? Everytime I see her name I (in my mind) think TaDaa i'm thinking as if I was presenting an award to drum roll please=Ta Daa-and the Oscar goes to Pam! But, hey, I am weird.

Uf Da!! What a mess! I personally am so glad you are here, and there are toooooooo many stories like yours. What a mess! (When my MIL passed, we had to pay another $900 for the cremation and mailing. If you pay for everything in advance, why the extra bill? I kept quiet.) Stitch happy! -barb

TaDaa is a rescue cat. Took two weeks to name her, nothing seemed to fit. She always made an entrance entering a room, so it was TaDaa. At least I don't think there is another.
She does impersonations - road kill, both fresh and older, otter and great big c. Also predicts the weather and brings flowers (mostly hibiscus). She is a fun person.

Well, she has her twin in my house also a rescue. Outside, this spring, my outside black cat had 4 black kittens. We bought a really nice house, feed them and make sure, always, that they have water. Well, my outside black cat disappeared and her kids are here. We live in a small town with every vet making sure that they aren't the first that will do the community a kindness as far as spay-neutering. I already have 3 rescued cats, one rescued German Shepherd . To top it all off, no matter how nice we baby talk the outside kittens we can not get our hands on them. I have carriers to put them in but they just run from us even approaching them without looking them in the eyes. The whole situation with them makes me want to cry.
