Asian Splendor
I did this piece over 15 years ago. At that time, I was intimidated by the background work. Since, I have all but completed the background (so simple, I can't believe I thought it would be hard). I have about 20 design rows left on the left side) and I just can't seem to pick it back up... please tell me why?????

Anyway, the fabric has turned brownish. I love this piece and can't wait for it to be finished, but I just can't bring myself to do it! Ok, now that's out, I will pick it up tonight..I promise!

Let me know if you can't see the picture. If not, you can follow this link:

Can’t see the pic but followed the link. Lovely. Please finish and post a pic. Funny how sometimes you are so close to the finish and you just can’t make yourself complete it. Have one like that. You have inspired me to dig it out and finish.

Don't worry...if you need a minute, take it! And when the time comes, we'll help you get the fabric clean. Enjoy! Join in the chat, watch some movies, baseball, football, read, try diamond painting...that stuff will make you appreciate cross stitch. 😊

Hey, VCESS, did you try diamond painting? Didn't like it??

SusieB, it's very "persnickity", billions of tiny pieces of glitter....The DD pulled it out to "read instructions". Hahahahaha. There is nothing! The glitter and a pick, some stuff...assuming It's wax? Will pull it out later to start. Not a good first impression! 😊

Yep, I think there is only one company, Diamond Dotz, that actually includes an instruction sheet with their patterns. Those from Asia don't. There are lots of instruction videos on YouTube, but it's pretty much like paint by number, just pair bead numbers with symbols. It's really easy once you get a little organized and get started.

Susiebelle, I have been looking at these. Do you think a 7 year old could do one?

jclifford, I have the same problem with a work that is probably 10 years old. First, I misplaced the actual work (remember it is almost finished). Then misplaced the pattern. So I went through 20 years of mags, charts, etc. to find the pattern. Eureka. Then found the work. Eureka. I reunited them. Now they sit together while I still work on other things. It is beautiful but I just can't finish it. I don't know why. That will be my New Year's resolution. I will do it in January and have done with it!!!! Procrastinator that I am. Pam

Gee, djhmom, I don't know, 7 years old might be a little young. I don't know if kids could follow the pattern and get the beads in the correct spaces. Once stuck they are a little hard to get off. And, the beads are very tiny and they come in a little numbered cellophane pack, once opened they can go all over the place unless you have a bead organizer to store them in. I don't have kids, but maybe somebody who does and who is familiar with diamond painting could give you a better answer.

Thanks VCESS! I will let you all know when I finish it, I picked it up Monday night and started on it again. It should only take about 3 days to do it (after work and after dinner). I'll post it and you can tell me how to clean it. Thanks.
