in Paris is on fire. Such a shame after so many centuries. CNN has live coverage.

I just turned the TV on and saw this. It is absolutely horrific. Not just the loss of the cathedral, but the art work inside as well. What a horrible, horrible loss. We pray that no one was injured.

I am beyond heart broken watching this news. Part of it was undergoing a renovation. Kind of spooky feeling as I just kitted up the chart by Mystic Stitch of the Cathedral. I have had the pleasure of visiting but it was many years ago. Was, and still am, hoping to get back there some day. That said, it will never be the same.

I lived there for three years back in the mid-sixties. I remember most the spire and the stained glass windows. This was built back in the 1200's. Google says construction was started in 1163.

It is such a shame! It was built back in the 12th century and will never be able to be rebuilt the same way.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Next day.........I see that it was mainly the roof and spire that are gone. The BBC refer to the fire at Windsor Castle in 1992 and the magnificent restoration work done by the artisans. Iโ€™m sure the same will be done with Notre Dame. I would think that the relics are kept in extremely safe places, perhaps not even in the church. Just another dramatic chapter in its history.

I am so saddened by this event. As a practicing Catholic it is even more devastating. I pray many of the invaluable relics will be saved and the miraculous events of their survival will be known. Imagine if the Crown of Thorns from Christ's head is found safe during this Holy Week.

I pray that some the the relics were saved when they realized the fire was out of control..

From what I've seen on TV, most of the precious works of art and such had already been moved out for the renovation project that was ongoing. I've also heard they have managed to save the two towers, but there is still an awful lot of damage. The Crown of Thorns has been rescued safe and sound.

Let's also pray for the firefighter that was critically injured fighting the fire๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™.
