From the designer: "Baby carriers are not as commonly used today as in the old days. The most traditional baby carriers can only be found in very rural areas. In many ethnic groups residing in rural areas in China, baby carriers are extensively embroidered. The pattern of this sampler is extracted from an antique baby carrier collected from the Miao ethnic group in which many baby carriers are decorated by counted stitching. This particular baby carrier is now privately owned but displayed in exhibitions occasionally.
