My son paid $50. yes, $50 for a cake yesterday. Outrageous !!! He thought the lady said $15 and was too embarassed to say "never mind"....OMG ..well yes, it was delicious but so is my home made (cake mixes ) I make. (for under $5 ) wow, crazy. This is our neighborhood bakery here where I live. Can't believe they're still in business for many years here. I heard that this was a "high end" bakery but never ventured in there .....now I know .....Shoprite has fabulous cakes for $12....and they ARE good !

Hello friends! This morning I received this email from ECS announcing that DMC is raising their prices starting September 1. I wanted to pass this news along in case some folks do not receive the newsletter. This will help in planning orders in August. Picture is attached.

The house cross stitch is my in-laws actual house. The overalls are from an upcycled bed sheet.

Good Saturday morning everyone. Fall is definitely in the air and I'm loving it. Spent most of the day outside stitching on "Harvest Basket". I'm changing the leaves and using variegated DMC floss to make the border more colorful. I think I'll be outside again today to enjoy this weather. Have a good weekend and enjoy what you like best!

Good Sunday morning everyone. Went outside with the dogs and it's so dark, but you could see the planet line up. Pretty cool what you can see during what they call a black moon. Today Bryan will be tuning his bass drum and finishing up the drum area. I know it takes a long time, but it will be worth it. Also Eric the snake guy is coming over to donate some snails for the our two goldfish. He's an interesting guy. Other than that a quiet Sunday in store. Enjoy your day!

I'm doing perpetual calendars for my 2 sisters-in-law with cross stitch. I am so excited because I've never tried it before!
Got the 'base' of the first one done. Little disappointed with the adhesive mounting board I got from Amazon. It's lifted in a few spots, but the rest is really stuck on. Tried using a blow dryer to reactivate the glue in those spots, but didn't work.
I ordered the Pres On boards from here for the second one. I used them several years ago for other cross stitch projects, and they have been great!
Anyway, here's a Pic of the first one:

This sampler calls for 25 count dirty linen. I am having difficulty finding this color. I made this for my sister 40 years ago and would now like to do one for my granddaughter. I see you have 25 count in raw and flax and 28 count in dirty. If I have to choose between raw or flax which would come closest to the dirty and still work. DMC colors are ecru,315,316,502,504,778. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Pam, I made the Praline pecan mix made with Cripix. The vote was 😋😋😋😋😋! Everyone said it’s addictive and my Jim nicknamed it “crack.” Whenever I make goodies they get delivered around the neighborhood so Jim and I don’t eat it all. This mix would be good in Christmas tins for neighbors, the mailman, etc.
