I've done several white stockings for the grands and so far so good, and they do get used and handled and so far still nice and white. I always wash the finished stitching before I assemble the stocking, and wash the backing fabric too, so the whole stocking should be washable, right? Cute, cute stocking.

You could probably hand wash it in cold water if needed. Then roll it up in a dry towel

And iron it under a pressing cloth..just make sure your threads won’t bleed before you stitch this adorable stocking. Check you tube on cleaning cross stitch..
