I am wondering why DMC 947 is used on the Cardinal. I am assuming sense it is outside that it could be from the sun hitting it. I really do like this picture.

I would guess it's used in his beak. Cardinals have orange beaks. There might be a little bit used on the bottom side of the branch, also, for the lichen.

Have you stitched Artecy patterns in the past? There is a lot of subtle shading. It is possible that there may only be a few stitches using 947.

Looking at the picture, I would guess that it would be on the legs & the lichen on the branch it's standing on.

katye -- try contacting Tereena at artecy.com She is extremely helpful and always responds to questions. Just remember; she is in Australia and it is already tomorrow there. I should have thought about that earlier. If you ask; she might even tell you how many stitches there are using that color

One of my favorite birds--I have not noticed this one before.

Love this picture, may have to put it in my wish list. That color could be used for shading.

I am working on an Artecy allover pattern right now.....Apricot Roses....there is bright orange, corals, pinks, bright reds...it's the shading and the confetti...in some areas, there are only one or two stitches in those colors. When I look at the one sheet of the pattern that I managed to finish, the blend is amazing...really, really pretty. I'm just going with it.
