My Frame
I recently purchased a scroll frame from Walmart. It is the complete set by F. A. Edmunds. The problem
is the clamps. They are exactly the same as the Q-Snaps clamps and are extremely hard to remove. I had to get DH and a small flat head screw driver and carefully pried them off the rods. Has anyone used this frame with the pvc clamps
and did you have this problem and how did you resolve the issue.? I really don't want to have to go through the rigamaroll of having to return it.

I always slide my clamps off the ends rather than trying to pry them. But you can't do that once the knobs are in place obviously.

a week ago I bought Q Snaps (from an independent); the 11 x 17 size for my large project.. due to arthritis in my thumb joints I had a hard time putting the clamps on & my husband had to slide the clamps off for me..
talked to shop today & they will take them back for me..
unfortunately, I liked the idea, may still try the smaller size.. will talk to shop owner..

The QSnaps I bought--I think they are a different brand name--suggested that if the holders are too tight, you can stretch them by using a hand towel for the material, keeping it on for a few days to loosen/stretch the plastic. I did that, but only for less than a day. I didn't want them too stretched. I too slide my holders off at the corners. But yes, on arthritic hands, it can be hard. I thought I'd never get my first attempts off until I figured out to just slide them sideways to the corners, but I never put my stitching area underneath them for fear..... I only snap around the edges.

on my package it suggest snapping one clip over the other on the frame to stretch them, one at a time.. afraid maybe to stretch to much..
towel is good idea.. never thought about problem if snapped over actual stitching..
going to shop today; will consult Angela about towel & stitching & see what her comments are..

Put fabric on my Q-snaps last night to start a small project and they are tight. I do slide the clamps off the ends of the frame. I'm thinking that there is a bit of a difference from buying the "Q-Snaps" versus another company that I bought similar q-snap type merchandise.
The ones that did not have the actual "Q-Snap" logo ended up with the clamps getting so loose, they wouldn't even hold the fabric without me twisting them occasionally. I heard putting the clamps through the dishwasher would work so to make the clamps tighter; I put the 3 clamps and ran them through a cycle. Didn't do a thing for the clamps or me...

well I bit the bullet & exchanged the large q snaps for the smaller set; I think (hope) I will be able to handle them.. we shall see..

Bermuda: If your clamps are too loose, have you tried rubber bands? Put your clamps on and put rubber bands on top of it to make it tighter. This might work better than it being too tight originally.

jclifford: Thanks for the suggestion. Will give it a try! :)

dbye468: Looking forward to hearing how the small Q-Snaps AND the clamps work out for you!
