From the designer: "The name and style of this sampler led us to investigate whether it was created in Spain or Mexico. Mexican sampler scholar Mayela Flores Enriquez, PhD, confirmed that although the name is Hispanic, the style of flower baskets and larger girl are not consistent with Mexican dechados (samplers). The Biedermeier baskets could be influenced by German Teachers who went to Spain to instruct children. The sampler likely was stitched in the mid-1800s."
