A reproduction sampler pattern by Hannah Bonfield who was from the Hertfordshire area which is just to the north of Lodon. She stitched a lovely sampler with birds and a big red house - although the original sampler has faded the colours are visible from the back. I have included some background about what I have been able to find about Hannah's life.
The sampler measures 240 stitches wide by 185 stitches high. It is stitched in full cross stitch, except for her name and date, which is stitched in quarter stitch or one over one. I have included an adaptation of her name and date charted for full cross stitch, so this sampler is suitable for aida and linen.
The sampler is charted using DMC and overdyed threads, using colours from the back of the sampler, as many of the details are lost on the front of the sampler from fading. The model was stitched on Zweigart 36 count Edinburgh Antique White linen using the overdyed threads.
