About this item
Rotterdam, April 27th, 2024. Throughout Europe, May Day is an ancient celebration with singing, dancing, general merriment, and often the crowning of a May Queen. I’ve always been fascinated by these customs, which clearly have roots in the ancient world but, over time, sometimes transformed or were absorbed by the church. James G. Frazer wrote extensively about folklore customs in his two-volume book The Golden Bough, published in 1890. Although the book has quite a few shortcomings, it also shares some fascinating traditions throughout Europe—some of which have survived to this day.

Counted cross stitch pattern. Stitch count: 145w x 169h. Suitable for both Aida and linen fabrics so you can choose what you would like for your projects. We have DMC floss listed as the supply for this project but you can use any threads of your liking per the designer.
